About Mark Morabito
Early Life
Mark Morabito grew up in Southern Ontario. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology and Political Science from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC, followed by a J.D. in Law from Western University in London, Ontario.
Career
Mark Marabito’s career in business and capital markets spans nearly 20 years, with a focus on junior mining and extensive experience in merchant banking and corporate development.
Mark started his career working as a corporate finance and securities lawyer in Toronto and Vancouver. After eight years of working in law, he transitioned to the business side, bringing his knowledge of regulation and finance to the companies he would later build and lead.
Over the years, Mark has founded and led several successful resource development companies, including two that advanced from initial listings on the TSX Venture Exchange to full listings on the New York Stock Exchange. His leadership at Alderon Iron Ore stands out as a defining achievement, where he negotiated a landmark $400 million partnership with China’s HBIS Group, marking the steel producer’s first investment outside China.
Mark currently serves as the Chairman and CEO of King & Bay West, a merchant bank and public company services provider he founded in 2003. In his role, he specializes in identifying, funding, developing and managing business opportunities in and outside the mining industry. He has raised over US$1B throughout his career.
Alongside his role at King & Bay, Mark serves as the Executive Chairman of Intrepid Metals Corp., a company focused on developing its Corral Copper and Silver project in the Tombstone area of southwest Arizona.
Outside of work, Mark is passionate about health and fitness. He stays active through gym workouts and boxing.
